• Copper Mining Railroads Vol. 1

Jim Terrell filmed several copper operations in AZ, NM and TX. He was allowed to film the operations from the mine pits, the crushers, the smelters and to the loading of the final product into rail cars. Each facility had its own rail line to connect with the class 1 roads, mostly the Southern Pacific. There were extensive narrow gauge railroads that moved materials intra-plant. We visit the Phelps Dodge Morenci Mine, American Smelting and Refining, Inspiration Consolidated Copper, Magma Arizona, Kennecott and more. These operations used Baldwin and ALCo diesels as well as an assortmenty of "critters" in plant. Oh, yes! The wild desert scenery is magnificent. 100 minutes, all color, sound in camera and narration. See volume 2 also.
